We would like to offer our most heartfelt appreciation to our supporters and patrons for making the 25th Anniversary Year Concert Season a huge success! During the 2017-2018 season, appreciative audiences numbering more than 3,700 in attendance expressed their appreciation through their enjoyment of the five (5) concerts of this past season. The Band presented guest artists and guest conductors at every concert this past year to make the 25th Anniversary Concert Season special for all.
The following is an overview of this past Concert Season:
The first performance, on October 15, was titled "Strike Up the Band!" The concert featured music from the golden era of film and stage as well as modern compositions that stretched the imagination and traditional “band standards”. The Band featured Mr. Richard Floyd, Music Director of the Austin Symphonic Band (Austin, TX), as the guest conductor during the concert.
On December 16, the Band presented "Glory in the Highest" featuring favorites of the Christmas and Chanukah season. JaZZ’d, the jazz vocal ensemble from Morton Ranch High School, was featured as the Band performed Irving Berlin's Christmas. Dr. Richard Crain, President of the Midwest Clinic, shared the podium as the featured guest conductor during this concert.
The third (3rd) concert of the year took place on March 4. This concert, titled: "music, Music, MUSIC!" provided songs and selections that one could hear being sung, or hummed, by the audience members as they made their way out the door at the concert’s conclusion. During this concert the Band was joined by professional harpist Dr. Abigail Sliva on four selections. Mr. Gerald Guilbeaux, Music Director of the Lafayette Concert Band and Acadian Wind Symphony (Lafayette, LA), was the featured guest conductor during this concert.
The performance on May 6, titled "Put On Your Dancin' Shoes" made everyone’s feet start tapping and prepared to dance the night away! Concert selections featured dance style music from many varied time periods and musical genres. Featured as the guest conductor, Mr. Jim McDaniel, Music Director of the Carrollton Wind Symphony (Carrollton, TX), conducted selections during this concert.
The final performance of the 25th Anniversary Concert Season was held on July 1. Titled "One Nation...Our Heritage" this performance once again featured the seventy-plus (70+) voices of Lone Star Community Chorus. Honor and tribute, patriotism and gratitude, memories of past events and hope for our nation’s future were all presented and conveyed during this patriotic celebration of our nation, state, and community. Standing room only is the established tradition at this concert and this year’s concert welcomed over 900 in attendance. Once again the services of Dr. Richard Crain, not only as a guest conductor but also narrator, added to the overwhelming success of this concert for all audience members.
